‘Buffalo Hump’ Removal is latest popular cosmetic procedure, that removes the build-up of excessive fat around the lower back of the neck between the shoulders.

Is ‘Buffalo Hump’ removal procedure right for me?
This hump of build-up fat is not necessarily a serious condition, it is normally a result of obesity, but it could be caused from hormonal imbalance (e.g. Cushing Syndrome) and drugs’ side effects (e.g. steroid/AIDS medicines).
Tumours, cysts and kyphoscoliosis can cause similar hump shape but does not by itself cause excessive fat in the back of the neck and required a different treatments.

Prior to undergoing VASER® Liposuction, a thorough test is carried out to determine if, you are healthy enough for the procedure.
You should discuss your present medical history and medications including over the counter medicines, vitamins and herbs with your doctor.
To shorten the recovery time and reduce any chances of complications, you should stop taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory tablets e.g., Ibuprofen Naprosyn, St John’s Wart, Gingko, Fish Oil, Vitamin E and blood thinners.
Prior to stopping any medications please seek advice from your doctor.
Stop smoking for at least 2 weeks before and after the procedure.
Do not drink alcohol in excess for 2 weeks prior.
Drink lots of water in the days leading up to your procedure.
Pre-op Lipo body, hair and nostril chlorohexidine wash instructions:
Chlorhexidine 2-4% can be purchased from a chemist or please speak with your doctor.
Its purpose is to minimise common skin pathogens that may cause wound infection postoperatively.
How do I use Chlorhexidine?
You should start using Chlorhexidine 4 days before your procedure.
Chlorhexidine should be used undiluted as a liquid soap.
Apply it directly to wet skin with your hands or a cloth.
You should leave it on your skin for at least a minute.
You should apply Chlorhexidine all over your body.
You should pay particular attention to the areas around your nose (nostrils), between your legs (genitals and anus), under your arms and feet.
After the first application repeat the steps outlined above however, this time, use Chlorhexidine as a shampoo to wash your hair.
Hair should be rinsed well afterwards. Whenever possible, hair must be washed twice weekly.
You can wash off the Chlorhexidine either in a bath or shower.
You should dry yourself with a clean towel afterwards and put on clean clothes.
Arrange someone to take you home and take care of you for at least the first day and night.
Fill your prescriptions and place them within easy reach.
Have plenty of pillows, towels and spare compressions for nearby drainage.
There will be some bruising, swelling and pain after the procedure, however, if there is severe pain, you must contact us immediately.
Excess tumescent fluid will most likely drain from the access incisions for the first couple of days. The fluid’s colour is blood tinged.
After the first day you can shower.
It is necessary to neither work or engage in normal activities for approximately a week.
Wear compressive garments for at least 6 weeks to help reduce swelling and improve results.
Avoid high impact activities and jogging for around 6 weeks.
